Abstract

This article explores PROTON's eco-innovation strategies in the automotive industry to enhance environmental sustainability while maintaining competitive advantage. It discusses initiatives such as the development of hybrid and electric vehicles through collaborations with Lotus and Geely, while addressing challenges including high R&D costs, limited consumer awareness, and global competition. The paper recommends strengthening consumer education, expanding local R&D capabilities, improving production efficiency, and fostering public-private partnerships to support sustainable automotive development. The findings highlight the importance of green technology and eco-innovation in achieving long-term competitiveness and environmental sustainability in emerging markets.
