Abstract
This study explores the antecedents of complying with fraudulent activities from the perspective of money mules in Malaysia. Using in-depth interviews with nine informants, the study identifies two main categories: financial circumstances and personal circumstances. Financial factors include extra income, debt, high financial commitments, easy money, and loss of income. Personal factors include desperation, lack of knowledge, willingness to explore new things, trust, and irrationality.
