Abstract
The study investigates the continuing polemic surrounding accreditation (tauliah) for Islamic religious teaching in Malaysia. Using a qualitative case-study approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted with seven selected Malaysian da'wah experts to identify the causes of the issue, accreditation processes, actions taken by religious authorities, and possible solutions. The study recommends that preachers comply with state laws, avoid unnecessary polemics, understand diverse da'wah approaches, engage with religious authorities and maintain ethical teaching practices. It also proposes a centralized accreditation system, recognized professional qualifications and improved SOPs to increase consistency, accountability and quality among religious teachers.
