Abstract

The study investigates four factors contributing to the acceptance of dating apps: personality, ease of communication, trendiness, and loneliness, particularly in the Malaysian context. It applies Uses and Gratification Theory and uses a quantitative research design. Questionnaires were distributed to respondents studying at UiTM and working at Ogilvy Advertising Agency in Kuala Lumpur. The findings indicate relationships between the acceptance of dating apps and personality, ease of communication, trendiness, and loneliness. The study contributes to the field of media and communication by developing a more comprehensive set of variables associated with dating-app acceptance.
