Abstract

The emergence of multimodal learning application that contain several modes input such as touch, voice, eye gaze and gesture promotes a dynamic and interactive learning experience to the preschool children. Nevertheless, the use of static feedback mechanisms that are not tailored to children’s varying developmental skill levels causes them to rely on adults to perform multi-touch gestures. This may lead to cognitive overload, reduced engagement in the learning process, which in turn affects children’s comprehension and the achievement of learning objectives. Such conditions hinder the development of self-directed learning, which is an important element of 21st-century learning. The objective of this study is to explore an adaptive learning environment through the integration of adaptive feedback and cognitively personalised concepts within mobile applications to support children’s learning. The method employed is a literature review consisting of four phases, namely literature search, selection criteria, analysis and synthesis, and the development of a conceptual framework. The result of this study is a conceptual framework that highlights the potential of Artificial Intelligence in providing a personalised and interactive learning experience for preschool children. This framework aligns with the principles outlined in the National Artificial Intelligence Roadmap 2021–2025, particularly in the development of AI features that support learner diversity.
